Produce electricity using solar energy

Genasolar is a revolutionary solar inspired plant funded by Abu Dhabi’s green Masdar initiative and Spain’s Sener engineering.  The company is trying to increase the output of sustainable power for thousands of homes. It produces electricity by using mirrors that use the heat energy from the sun to heat a new salt compound that is in turn transformed into liquid and is able to store the energy all day long. The salt can then power a steam turbine to produce electricity. The plant consists of a number of heliostats formed from large mirrors controlled from a plant to follow the sun’s journey across the sky and keep as much of the thermal energy. However, cables are needed to keep the tower stable in wind. This is a very recent technology.
